Instructions!!!!

How to use this blog:
Go through each activity in this order: Smelling, Tasting, Touching, Hearing, Seeing.
Then go through all the extra links. Start by completing all activities and then do the practice work. I will tell you when everything needs to be turned in throughout the week at school. Make sure you post at least three comments on the blog a week. You are expected to go on the blog at least three times every week.

Behavior:
Everyone signed the forms with the rules of the internet. Be sure that you follow all those rules. Bad language is not acceptable, being mean to others is not acceptable either. Follow our class golden rule: Treat others the way you would want to be treated.

Consequences:
This is your warning. If you do not follow the rules I will call your parents. If I have to speak with you again your grade for all projects will be dropped one letter grade and the office will be told about your actions. If this still continues the matter goes directly into the principal's hands.

Braille or Sign Language?

Would you rather be blind and have to use Braille or be deaf and have to talk using sign language? Choose one option. Send in a link to me. I will then give you a partner. One of you will write a letter in Braille and the other one will write a letter in sign language. You will post the letter and then bring it into class. You will have to translate your partner's letter to the class. Have Fun!!

Smelling Activity

In a table with columns of LIKE, DISLIKE and DON'T CARE, list all the different smells you can think of. Think of sets of smells and the places that you smell each scent. List the smells and add different words that describe what each scent smelled like but don't name where you smelt the scent. Once you have finished your list you will have a funny little writing about smelling.

Hearing Activity

What are your favorite sounds? Write down a few sounds you love to hear and a few sounds you hate hearing. How are theses sounds different and how are they alike? If you had to listen to one sound all day long what sound would you want to hear?

Tasting Activity

For a whole week, write down the things that you ate for dinner. Which tastes were your favorite and which taste were the worst? Write down and share with us online what you observes.

Touching Activity

For this activity you will need a whole bunch of different items. It can be anything you choose just get a lot. You will also need paper, and paint. Use these different items to paints. Some item you could use are straws, string, corks, cotton balls, bubble wrap, popsicle sticks, tooth brushes, and fly swatters. Use a variety of items. Observe how each item painted. What did it look like? How did it feel? Which item made the best design to you? Which one felt the weirdest to you?

Can you use all five of your senses?

Baking Cookies: Find your parents to help you with this activity. Make cookies and sing this song. Did you really just use all five of your senses? Tell us how you did that.

Roll the dough out smooth and flat.
With your hands, give it a pat.
If You're going to bake some cookies, use your hands

If You're going to bake some cookies, use your nose

You nose will tell you when they're done!

If You're going to bake some cookies, use your eyes

Do they taste yummy to you?
If You're going to bake some cookies, use your mouth

Seeing Activity

How many faces can you see? (Click on the picture to make it larger)
Activity 1: Finding your blind spot- take a piece of paper and a pencil, pen, or marker. On the left hand side make a dot. On the right hand side make an X. Hold the picture out in front of your face. Put your hand over your hand over your right eye and with your left eye look right at the X. Then bring the paper close to your face and write down what you noticed. Do the same thing but switch eyes and look at the dot. Write down what happened with both eyes and why you believe this happened.
